Coalition Partners,
As the first quarter of 2026 comes to a close, I am inspired by what our coalition has accomplished — and determined to build on our momentum. Our system is breaking through at a critical moment for our community. To date, we’ve leveraged $10.2 million in investment over five times to produce $56 million in wealth-building impact.
It’s proof that what we’re building is working. Tremendous thanks to our investors and partners for bringing us to this point. Here are the latest numbers.

Policy Spotlight: Small Business Relief
With Operation Metro Surge winding down, the economic impact on our community has come into focus.
Twin Cities businesses lost an estimated $213 million since the ICE surge began in December. Many saw 50% to 90% of their revenue erased, threatening their survival. Last month I wrote a commentary in the Star Tribune about the pressing need for small business recovery. With 1.3 million Minnesotans employed by these businesses, failure to take action will have a devastating impact on our state.
That’s why GroundBreak is standing with partners at the State Capitol calling for $100 million in Small Business Relief (HF4342/SF4527). This bill is urgently needed to stabilize small businesses and Minnesota’s economy. If you share my belief that small businesses are the backbone of our community, urge your state lawmakers to support the bill. Here’s a direct way to take action: GroundBreak Small Business Action Alert.
Our Coalition is working to build a future where every person, no matter their race or background, has the resources to thrive. That’s reflected in our 2026 legislative agenda, which promotes a range of policies that grow financial inclusion in our region, from housing stability to capital access.
As part of this push, GroundBreak joined the Yes to Homes Coalition to advance the Starter Home Act (HF3895 /SF4123). Chief Impact Officer Drinal Foster testified in support of changing restrictive zoning policies to allow more types of housing and starter homes to be built across the state. While the bill did not cross the finish line this year, advocates will continue working to change the rules to expand generational opportunity and homeownership.

Growing Our Team

In case you missed the news, I’d like to introduce the latest addition to the GroundBreak leadership team. Entrepreneur, designer, and culturemaker Houston White joins us as Creative Director. Houston has been working behind the scenes since December to shape the organization’s identity and cultural voice. In his hands, our brand will powerfully reach and reflect the communities we serve.
Onward,
Adair Mosley
